Roger Dean
English painter/designer Roger Dean was born August 31st, 1944 in Ashford, United Kingdom. Dean is best known for his fantastic/surreal oil paintings of landscapes and buildings. His style incorporates a pure, lush depiction of nature and primitive structures with a chrome, almost futuristic tinge to them, highlighting the natural beauty of plant life, animals, and an environments abiotic factors. Some of his most popular paintings are appropriately covers of progressive rock albums such as
Yes's 1971 album,
Fragile, and
Asia's 1983 release,
Alpha. Although Roger Dean has achieved great success with his painting career, that did not stop him from also pursuing a career in architectural design. Dean's
Home for Life is a project that started out as a design for a comfortable child's bed and expanded into an entire living space. The
Home for Life stresses the importance of a house's mood to ease the stress of the dweller.
